October 6, 2026High school teams from across Lebanon are invited to build AI solutions for healthcare and the environment at LAU Byblos on November 14.
High school teams from across Lebanon are invited to build Artificial Intelligence solutions for real healthcare and environmental challenges at the AI for Impact: Lebanon Youth Hackathon 2026. Organized by SocialLab in partnership with LAU Engine, the entrepreneurship and innovation platform of the Lebanese American University, the national one-day event takes place on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the LAU Byblos Campus.
Registration is now open to schools across Lebanon until November 1, 2026.
Young minds, real problems, responsible AI
The hackathon gives Lebanon's high school students a hands-on way to use Artificial Intelligence for good. In a single day, school teams will move from an idea to a working prototype, guided by AI engineers, university faculty and industry experts. No advanced coding experience is required, and teams are not expected to deliver a finished product: the goal is a working prototype they can keep developing after the event.
Responsible AI sits at the heart of the day. Students learn to protect privacy, reduce bias and cite their sources as they build. These principles count for a fifth of the final score.
After a day of building with mentor support, short pitching rounds and tool orientations, the best teams will present their solutions live to a jury of experts from SocialLab, LAU Engine and partner institutions. The event will also bring together government officials and UNICEF.
Challenge tracks: AI for healthcare and the environment
Teams choose one of the two challenge tracks:
- Environment: using AI to tackle environmental challenges, sustainability and resource conservation.
- Healthcare: using AI to support public health, access to care and better patient outcomes.
Within each track, teams choose from a set of sub-themes and are free to decide the format of their solution.
